An analysis of the failure of Russian military leadership. Failed logistics.

The Failed Logistics Of The Russian Invasion

Lawrence Person:

    • Ukrainian forces destroyed all rail links between the two countries.
    • Russian forces are relying on analog, unsecured radio communications rather than scrambled digital channels, and Ukrainian forces are listening in and jamming.
    • Poor logistics also helped Soviet forces lose in Afghanistan.
    • Russia has 30,000 strong military rail organization.
    • “Russia doesn’t have enough trucks.” They can’t operate effectively more than 90 miles from supply dumps.
    • A large percentage of truck transport was dedicated to rocket resupply, not fuel and food.
    • Russia only had 3-5 days of supplies when they invaded. When those ran out, they were screwed.
    • Russia’s military works on a “push” logistic system rather than a “pull” system used by the U.S. military, mean it’s not very flexible.
    • Russia has the capability to set up the infrastructure for a longer war, but it’s going to take time.
    • Russia’s failure to quickly achieve it’s objectives has seen it resort to more desperate and indiscriminate tactics.

I think the failure runs deeper than this. Russian war equipment is apparently poorly maintained and has low serviceability. Russian air forces appear to be at a low standard in terms of battlespace awareness, serviceable aircraft, and concentration on tactical and strategic goals. Russian leadership seems wooden and unresponsive to changing battlefield conditions. Russian soldiers appear to have low moral and low will to fight. Russian leadership appears to have underestimated the Ukrainians’ response and willingness to fight; underestimated the NATO response; underestimated the world’s response. Russian nuclear threats reveal a lack of confidence in their ability to wage the war they started.

Political lawfare is largely an invention of the left. They have certainly perfected it.

There must be accountability for Covid crazy.

Why we must demand that leaders who got COVID wrong admit it and apologize

“…You, leadership in school districts that closed for the entirety of the 2020-2021 school year because American Federation of Teachers president Randi Weingarten told you to — and you were too afraid to counter. Whether school boards, mayors or governors, those in charge who kept schools closed have to be held accountable.

It wasn’t that the teachers unions were strong, it was that you were weak. It was a dereliction of your duty. Apologize.

But, of course, you couldn’t have done it without cover from our politicized health agencies. You, Rochelle Walensky at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, allowed Weingarten to craft absurd, unscientific policies that kept kids out of school.

You let her block the schoolhouse door because you were on the same political team. You broke the trust Americans had in their health agencies and we will all suffer the repercussions of that for a long time.

Apologize to the children whose lives you’ve stunted and who may never recover from the educational loss. Apologize to the kids who received speech therapy through masks because you refused to acknowledge that masking had been pointless in stopping COVID-19 spread.

You may have permanently damaged these children because you refused to admit that you had been wrong for so long. Apologize.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, you fell in love with your own image and could not stay off the TV even as it caused us all harm.

In November 2021, you said that people who were criticizing you were “really criticizing science, because I represent science. That’s dangerous.” What’s dangerous is if you really believe that.

You frequently got things wrong on TV or reversed your previous comments with no explanations. The science hadn’t changed, you made political calculations to support the diktats of the Biden administration.

You actually argued for the passage of the stimulus bill as if you were some kind of lobbyist and not the director of one of our national health agencies.

Worst of all, you shut down dissenting opinions from other scientists because you knew yours could not withstand scrutiny. You have been a disaster for this country in leading us through the pandemic.

Apologize. Then exit stage left and let us never hear from you again.

You fearful, quiet politicians who let extended lockdowns destroy businesses, fray the fabric of our cities and cost us all so much: We saw you maskless, at concerts and parties, while our 2-year-olds stay masked to this day.

We know that you didn’t actually think masking was important like you implored us it was. You loved your power and nothing else mattered. Apologize.

And you, compliant media, the disaster of the last two years is at your feet. You created heroes out of people like Gov. Andrew Cuomo, whose nursing home directive cost thousands of lives, while demonizing Gov. Ron DeSantis, who used all of his political capital to correctly force schools open, a decision everyone now pretends was easy but certainly was not.

You ran stories about high case numbers in Florida “as schools open” to project that schools were somehow unsafe. You were incurious and did not ever challenge the corrupt health care agencies. You let us down.

Don’t apologize, we don’t believe you anyway…”

Senator Blackburn on Biden’s disastrous energy policies…

Biden is searching the globe to find oil. Everywhere that is except at home or in Canada. Somehow using oil from another country will stop global warming, but using oil from our North America will cause global warming? You got me. Ideological nonsense. Cult-like beliefs.

A picture is worth a thousand words. This picture tells you much about the bankrupt morals and rules of censorship employed by woke social media. Trump is not allowed an account. Putin is allowed an account. Do you need more than that to form an opinion about the moral cowards that operate social media?

Putin appears to be facing difficulties in Ukraine – difficulties partly of his own making

In Hostomel losses, a microcosm of Russia’s growing Ukraine crisis

“…Desperate to secure the Hostomel airport less than 20 miles northwest of Kyiv’s center, Russian forces are launching attacks into Hostomel and surrounding settlements. The Russians need the airport to serve as a logistics hub for follow-on operations against Kyiv.

The attacks aren’t going well.

Video posted online on Friday, supported by Ukrainian reporting, indicates that Russian mechanized infantry formations are being destroyed as they move against Hostomel objectives. Graphic video shows a Hostomel road littered with Russian armored troop transport and infantry fighting vehicles. Dead soldiers lie around them. The damage to the vehicles and the injuries to the soldiers suggest they were ambushed under heavy fire, including from antitank weapons. The video shows that some Russian soldiers were unable even to dismount their personnel carriers before being killed.

The video is just one testament to a tragic war. For the Russian military and Vladimir Putin, however, this situation encapsulates an escalating crisis.

It is now clear that the Russian military lacks the troop capacity, combined arms coordination, logistics trains, and morale to sustain a high-tempo war throughout Ukraine. But the more Russian units that are taken off the battlefield, the more limited the means of Russian commanders to pursue their objectives. This will exacerbate tension with higher commanders back in Belarus and Russia who are under pressure from Putin to deliver results. This is to say nothing of the impact on morale for those soldiers who will now be ordered to follow their fallen comrades into what they will assume are prospectively doomed battles. In contrast, the Ukrainian military morale is soaring.

The annihilation of Russian platoons, and thus the shared suffering of families who know each other, poses additional problems on the home front. The personal association of tragedy will fuel anger and make it far harder for Putin’s propagandists to present this war as a limited security operation. Certainly, Putin is not going to be able to keep arguing, as he did on Thursday, that his operation is “going to plan.” As the body count mounts and the obvious failure to make strategic progress becomes clearer, Putin will face escalating protests. The harsh response of Russian police forces against the limited protests that have occurred thus far underlines the Kremlin’s fear in this regard.

At a strategic level, the present dynamic will force Putin to choose massive escalation via artillery and missile supplies (stocks of the most capable missiles being limited in number) or compromise. While Russia’s targeting of civilian infrastructure has escalated this week, it has not been overwhelming, even if it has entailed serious war crimes. Because Putin has emphasized this action as one to unite Ukrainians under a greater, brotherly Russian orbit, his ability to use massive firepower to coerce surrender is more restricted than for Russian forces in Chechnya and Syria. A Russian nuclear strike on Ukraine, for example, continues to be highly unlikely.

In short, what’s happening in Hostomel is a microcosm of the growing crisis facing Putin and the Russian military…”

A ‘molecular drinks printer’ claims to make anything from iced coffee to cocktails

Cana One

“…A company called Cana has revealed what it’s calling the planet’s first “molecular beverage printer.” The idea is that, using a single cartridge of flavorings, the machine can mix one of thousands of different beverages, including juice, soft drinks, iced coffee, sports drinks, wine and cocktails.

With Cana One, which is designed to sit on a kitchen countertop, you’ll be able to select a drink from a wide range of beverage types and brands using a touchscreen. You can customize the levels of alcohol, caffeine and sugar (alcoholic and caffeinated drinks can be locked behind a PIN). Cana has teamed up with beverage brands from around the world and created its own concoctions.

A team of scientists spent three years studying popular beverages at the molecular level, Cana says. The researchers seemingly isolated the trace compounds behind flavor and aroma, and used those to create a set of ingredients that can deliver a large variety of drinks…”
