Oops. Governor Hochul wants Republicans to stay in New York after all, at least until the midterms are over!

After urging Republicans to leave NYC, Hochul appears to backtrack: ‘I encourage everyone to stay’

“…Gov. Kathy Hochul this week appeared to back off her earlier style of extreme partisanship, evidently extending an olive branch to conservatives in the state with less than a week before what looks to be a razor-thin midterm election.

Hochul in August had delivered a blistering broadside against prominent Republicans in the state, including her gubernatorial challenger Lee Zeldin, urging them at a campaign event to leave New York and head elsewhere.

“We are here to say that the era of Trump, and Zeldin and Molinaro, just jump on a bus and head down to Florida where you belong, OK?” she said. “Get out of town. Because you do not represent our values. You are not New Yorkers.”…”

“That’s not normal”

Heh!

This garbage is simply delusional. If you vote for these people, it’s on you.

Liberal memes of the week

Our elites and elite institutions have disgraced themselves so badly, no one cares what they say…

We are at a moment in time rarely seen in politics

“…the President of the United States can give a Prime Time address claiming that the very future of the Republic is at risk and the reaction is a complete shrug. Nobody cares. Nobody is listening. Biden owns the “bully pulpit,” but it is made of balsa wood and was nailed together by a 3 year old with a Playskool hammer…”

Unfortunately this is also true:

“…Soon it will be our task to fight against the Republican insiders who are licking their chops at the feast they see set before them. Many of them are mirror images of the Democrat consulting class, indifferent to outcomes as long as the gravy train continues. They are as amoral as the Democrats, and we need to sweep them away as badly as this crop of Democrats…”

The Bible

I have been reading the Bible at lunch. There is a lot of simple wisdom in the book. Most of it has application to today. For instance:

Prov. 17:13

Whoever rewards evil for good, Evil will not depart from his house.

Rewarding evil for good.

The Coming Struggle to Keep Warm

“…Almost wherever you look, there’s some not-very-important story that tips you off to a subterranean explosion whose full impact won’t be properly felt for a while. The effect is something like the delayed impact of depth charges or deadpan jokes.

Here, for instance, is the London Daily Telegraph telling us that the Brits will be wearing new styles of underwear this winter—and not because they’re hoping for a more exotic sex-life. . . . That’s the precautionary principle reduced to the bare essentials. Like everyone else in the northern hemisphere, ordinary Brits are expecting a chilly winter this year because of the following factors (which didn’t start with Mr. Putin’s war); Like most Western governments, the U.K. powers-that-be have neglected to invest enough in energy security because they quite consciously preferred to invest in transitioning from fossil fuels to renewable forms of energy. That is the orthodoxy of Net-Zero (sometimes enforced by treaties) in E.U. countries such as Germany, non-E.U. countries like Britain, and the U.S.

It’s a massive enterprise because until recently fossil fuels provided more than 85 percent of total energy to even the most technically advanced economies. In pursuit of this vision of a future of all-renewable energy, Germany has shut down almost all its nuclear power stations, keeps equivocating over whether the shut down the few remaining ones, and ends up relying on “dirty coal” now that cheap Russian energy is as unreliable as “renewables.”

Over the Pond the Biden administration has been refusing to license oil-and-gas explorations on federal land with the embarrassing result that it has to import oil from Venezuela. And the U.K. government too has banned “fracking” that would exploit the nation’s plentiful reserves of natural gas. As a result almost all of these countries are facing the risk of energy shortfalls to the point at which energy “blackouts” and rationing are seriously entertained by utilities and regulators if the winter is severe. California too. Moreover, the costs of transitioning to renewables are not only high, they are rising…”

As Democrats and media scream about Republican’s doing violence, the wacky left is committing violence real-time. Whatever the Democrats claim the Republicans are doing, rest assured the Democrats are doing that exact thing as they accuse others.

    • The shooting and wounding in 2017 of Republican members of Congress on a baseball field by a crazed left-wing gunman

    • The fire-bombing and targeting of pregnancy centers and Catholic churches by pro-abortion activists in the wake of the Dobbs decision

In his September remarks, Biden said that “Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic,” and that a Republican Party that supported Donald Trump was “a threat to this country.”

Obama, who once claimed his own political opponents were making “common cause” with the enemies of America because they opposed his nuclear deal with Iran, also warned against the “erosion of just basic civility and democratic norms” in America today.
