Lee, one of the bravest and most principled among them, even if his bravery is of the sort they cannot always match and his principles of the sort they cannot always honor.

While in Paris, Lucy decides she must have a ‘Jacques Marcel’ dress. Ricky refuses, of course, but gives in when Lucy goes on a fake hunger strike. Ricky eventually finds out she is faking and to get even hires a tailor to create a fake “Jacques Marcel” dress made from a potato sack. Fred gets one for Ethel too. The girls walk around in their burlap knock-offs with feedbag hats like queens but while taking coffee at a café, Jacques Marcel sees the gowns and dresses his models in similar fashion. Lucy and Ethel were the originators, but they burned the originals!
