Anthony Fauci apologizes for latest gaffe in COVID analysis
Is there a Fauci pronouncement in the last 18 months that was not a gaffe?
Is there a Fauci pronouncement in the last 18 months that was not a gaffe?
The elderly Senator Dianne Feinstein may be at the heart of this panic.
Leslie Eastman:
“…Sacramento’s “Little Swamp” is signaling its fear of conservative pundit Larry Elder, the leading replacement candidate should Californians recall Governor Gavin Newsom.
To begin with, the inappropriately named California’s Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) has opened an investigation into Elder’s financial disclosure.
The investigation comes after the California Democratic Party filed a complaint against Elder accusing the Republican of not properly disclosing aspects of his finances and business, following a story reported by the Los Angeles Times earlier this month, according to the news outlet.
The FPPC’s investigation into Elder’s campaign financial disclosure was first reported by the Times.
Elder is a leading candidate in next month’s California gubernatorial recall election.
The Times reported earlier this month that it looked like Elder had improperly listed financial disclosures related to Laurence A. Elder & Associates Inc., a business that experts told the news outlet it appeared he owned.
The Times reported that in his Statement of Economic Interests, a public filing that helps note whether there’s any potential ethical concerns, including conflicts of interest, he had not indicated if he owned a stake of that company. He did note that it was a source of income.
…You know which Republican recall candidate probably does concern the Democratic establishment because he might be able to hang on to the job? Faulconer. The moderate, pro-choice, experienced Republican got elected mayor twice in San Diego, where Republicans are just about a quarter of registered voters. While we oppose the recall, we think Faulconer is the only responsible vote on Question 2 of the recall ballot.
So what will it be, California Republicans? A vote for the race-baiting demagogue on the ballot, or a vote for a candidate who cares to actually try to govern?
Finally, CNN’s Jim Acosta decided he would try and help extinguish Elder’s efforts by whining about a joke the recall candidate made about obese women.
CNN host Jim Acosta has been accused of a sense of humor failure after clashing with a Republican representative about one of his colleagues’ jokes about obese liberal women.
Acosta snapped: ‘It’s disgusting’ after California Rep Darrel Issa defended prospective California Governor Larry Elder’s comments that Donald Trump had motivated more obese women to lose weight than Michelle Obama.
Acosta’s outrage came after Elder’s claim – made in jest on his radio show – that Donald Trump had so infuriated many obese liberal women that they’d gotten off the couch to march against his presidency.
Elder’s offending comment – made on his radio show earlier this year – saw him say: ‘When you look at all these women that have marched – something like 2 million women – Donald Trump has probably gotten more obese women off the couch and in the streets, working out than Michelle Obama did in eight years.’
Elder was interviewed by FNC’s Sean Hannity about the Los Angeles Times piece, referring to him as the “black face of white supremacy.” Elder noted that part of the reason for the fear is the physical condition of Senator Dianne Feinstein and that a Republican who became governor would be in a position to appoint a replacement…”

“…California Governor Gavin Newsom faces a recall on September 14 and the more desperate he gets, the lower he goes to save himself. Odds are 50-50 that Newsom will survive. It’s not a good place to be for an incumbent. Newsom and his supporters hope to distract from the copious reasons that Californians signed the recall petition to get rid of him.
Union bosses, Hollywood, and Silicon Valley are flooding money into marketing, direct mail, online ads, terrestrial radio, TV, and making sure that Google puts Newsom’s “Stop the Recall” campaign website at the top of the page for Newsom-related search inquiries.
The way Newsom has used the power of his office to save his own hide helps explain why at least 1.7 million Californians of all political backgrounds want him gone.
The governor’s campaign has attempted to tar recall proponents, including Democrats, independents, Libertarians, and Republicans, as “radical, right-wing,” “anti-vaxxers,” “QAnon conspiracy theorists,” and racists, who “could threaten California’s efforts to fight COVID-19.” We don’t know what that means but oooh, scary!

“…Here are the 10 states with the lowest unemployment rates as of July 2021.
Many different factors influence unemployment rates, but there’s one glaring thing these 10 states all have in common: Republican governors. Generalizing, GOP-led states had lighter government lockdowns on their economies and reopened sooner. So, too, except for Vermont, these states have all prematurely terminated the ongoing supplemental unemployment benefits that can pay unemployed households up to $25/hour. (More than what many workers made in their previous jobs.)
In stark contrast, here are the 10 worst states (counting Washington, DC) with the highest unemployment rates.
With the exception of Arizona, these states struggling with high unemployment all have Democratic governors (or mayor, in the case of DC). Generally speaking, they had longer and harsher government restrictions on their economies than the top 10 states. And, except for Arizona, all of these bottom-ranking states continued to offer residents expanded payouts to stay on unemployment benefits. (*Louisiana ended the benefits on August 3, but the unemployment rates are for July 2021, before this change took effect)…”
