‘The Constitution is always evolving’ (wrong)

The constitution does not evolve. The words never change unless amended through the prescribed processes contained in the document itself. Liberals use this to get around the plain English language meaning of words.

Democrats pandering to identity politics hurts themselves and hurts government institutions

Harris On Court Called ‘Win-Win,’ Rids Disaster Veep And Keep’s Joe’s Promise

The appointment of weak, inexperienced, poor performers to important positions based on political considerations of identity hurts Democrats. The 3 justice liberal block on the court is weak. Their arguments are unable to attract significant conservative support. Appointment of another weak liberal justice will not improve that situation, but continue it. If Democrats were serious, they would appoint a liberal jurist who is at the top of the profession and widely respected on all sides. This person, through the strength of their personality and legal arguments, could improve the perceived outcomes of Supreme Court decisions for Democrats. Who cares what the color of this person’s skin is? Who cares if this person is a man or woman?

Democrats focus on identity is a great mistake for them and for our country.

One benefit of Covid is that it has revealed the weakness and poor performance of government institutions and bureaucrat leaders. To improve future performance, current failures must be recognized, studied, and recommendations for change must be made. Will that happen? Doubtful.

Dr. Fauci and the Coronavirus Policy Blame Game | Opinion

“…With millions of Americans getting infected and over 800,000 reported COVID-19 deaths, most people now realize that Washington’s pandemic policies failed. Lockdowns just postponed the inevitable while causing enormous collateral damage on cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, tuberculosis, mental health, education and much else.

So, the blame game is in full swing. At a recent Senate hearing, Dr. Anthony Fauci did not even attempt to defend his policies. Instead, he insisted that: “Everything that I have said has been in support of the CDC guidelines.”

Dr. Fauci, as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), has worked closely with the two CDC directors, Drs. Robert Redfield and Rochelle Walensky, throughout the pandemic, but he is now laying the responsibility on them. He did the same with his former boss, shortly after Dr. Francis Collins resigned as director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Dr. Collins fiercely defended Fauci throughout the pandemic. In October 2020, the Great Barrington Declaration criticized Fauci’s lockdown strategy, calling for focused protection of high-risk older people while letting children go to school and young adults live near-normal lives. A few days later, Collins—a geneticist with little public health experience—wrote an email to Fauci suggesting a “take down” of the declaration, and characterizing its Harvard, Oxford and Stanford authors as “fringe epidemiologists.” Fauci agreed with his boss, but when asked about the incident at the recent Senate hearing, he responded that it “was an email from Dr. Collins to me.” In other words, Fauci himself was just following orders…”

Democrat focus on identity (race, gender, sexual preference, etc.) over other considerations has a negative effect on government institutions and public trust in those institutions. Merit-based appointments based on qualifications, experience, and skill can improve institutional performance and public trust.

Poll: 70% Covid is here to stay and move on with our lives

New Poll: 70% Say It’s Time to Accept COVID Is Here to Stay and Move On With Our Lives

“…A newly released Monmouth University Poll reveals that 70% of Americans agree it’s time to accept that COVID is here to stay and move on with our lives. I couldn’t agree more.

Interestingly, of the 70% who agree it’s time to move on, 78% “report having gotten COVID and 65% of those who say they have not been infected.” It seems even those who have yet to get the virus are saying enough is enough. Surprisingly, exposure to the virus doesn’t appear to be the main factor in determining whether it’s “time to move on.” Monmouth claims the main factor “is due to partisanship—ranging from 89% of Republicans and 71% of independents to 47% of Democrats.” Seriously? That seems a little partisan and short-sighted since Americans of all parties prefer to work, attend school, and live life over being locked down.

“Americans’ worries about COVID haven’t gone away,” said Patrick Murray, director of the independent Monmouth University Polling Institute. “It seems more to be a realization that we are not going to get this virus under control in a way that we thought was possible just last year.” Of course, they haven’t gone away because Biden and his Democratic minions push COVID fear 24/7.

The poll finds a majority of Americans continue to support some preventative measures, such as face masks and social distancing, though they don’t support others, such as workplace vaccine mandates. “We still see public support for maintaining some degree of public safety around COVID,” said Murray. “However, there appears to be an acknowledgment that federal measures have not been effective, or at least have failed to be widely accepted.” What they don’t mention here is that most Americans have always supported these measures. What we haven’t supported is the government forcing us to do so…”
