“…headlines blared Thursday morning, all but suggesting Wisconsin GOP Sen. Ron Johnson was involved in a conspiracy to force alternate electors on Vice President Mike Pence during the chaotic, violently tragic day that was Jan. 6, 2021.
“Ron Johnson tried to hand fake elector info to Mike Pence on Jan. 6, panel reveals,” the Washington-based new organization Politico declared.
To be fair, that’s exactly the headline the Democrat-led Jan. 6 committee fed the news media on Wednesday, releasing select text messages between Johnsonâs chief of staff and one of Penceâs top aides suggesting there was a plot hatched to hand an envelope of alternate Donald Trump electors to the vice president for the state of Wisconsin.
In reality, according to the full slate of text messages and interviews with people involved, the truth is far different.
Johnson never handed any such alternate electorsâ slate to Pence. Johnsonâs staff got an urgent request, quickly researched it and stood down, specifically telling the senator he should not do it.
Secondly, this wasnât a long-hatched plot, at least as it related to Johnson. The entire time of conversation in which the idea was requested, checked out and knocked down took just 70 minutes, the text messages show. And Pence’s staff already knew about the alternate electors before Johnson’s team even inquired, the messages show…”

New Yorkâs concealed carry restrictions, enacted more than a hundred years ago, required those who wish to carry a concealed weapon for self-defense to show âproper causeâ rather than have a presumption of the right to carry. Similar laws exist in Massachusetts, Hawaii, New Jersey, Maryland, and California, where this ruling will have a huge ripple effect.
Chief Justice John Roberts and Associate Justices Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett joined the majority, with Justices Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor, and Elena Kagan dissenting.
âThe constitutional right to bear arms in public for self-defense is not âa second-class right, subject to an entirely different body of rules than the other Bill of Rights guarantees,’â Thomas wrote in the opinion. âThe exercise of other constitutional rights does not require individuals to demonstrate to government officers some special need. The Second Amendment right to carry arms in public for self-defense is no different. New Yorkâs proper-cause requirement violates the Fourteenth Amendment by preventing law-abiding citizens with ordinary self-defense needs from exercising their right to keep and bear arms in public.â…”

Update:
Some Democrats seem to be making the argument that this decision will result in wild west type gunfights in downtown areas. Is that the case in the 43 states that already have shall-issue carry?
Isn’t the real problem Democrat policies in inner-city areas? Areas that have long been governed by Democrats. Areas where black on black crime is out of control and getting worse. Areas where Democrat attacks on police have reduced policing in troubled neighborhoods.
