I think Bezos observes correctly that Republicans are about to take power, maybe for the next eight years, and he is trying to get his dying paper closer to the center of American public opinion.
For many Americans, including me, The Washington Post is mostly unreadable and it’s news and opinions are cartoonishly far-left. Is there a market for that? I suppose, but you have to ask yourself why not provide a product that attracts a wide swath of Americans versus a narrow band?
