“…The mayor of Jackson, Mississippi is using Coronavirus as an excuse to suspend the city’s open carry law – announcing in a YouTube video that the suspension was a response to the ongoing gun violence in the city.
“The City of Jackson faces a significant challenge with illegal guns,” said Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba, citing Mississippi Code 45-17-7 as granting him authority to issue the order. “In the space of just one week, two innocent children have lost their lives due to senseless gun violence. Many of these killings could have been avoided if we had state law that enabled us to better control the presence of firearms on our streets.”
“Prior to the open carry law, when Jackson police officers saw a gun in plain view, it gave them probable cause to seize the weapon and determine if it was an illegal weapon or not. The open carry law not only provides protection to individuals who armed with illegal weapons, it creates an atmosphere of fear and intimidation in the community.”
In response to the decision, the Mississippi Justice Institute filed a lawsuit against Lumumba, arguing that the action is unconstitutional, according to WLBT.
“The U.S. Constitution and the Mississippi Constitution protect the right to openly carry firearms in public for self-defense, as do Mississippi statutes. A mayor does not have the authority to override these constitutional rights, even during a state of emergency,” reads a statement from the group.
“Mississippians should know that when the government tries to take away your constitutional rights, MJI will always be in your corner to help you fight back,” said MJI Director Aaron Rice, who added that the crimes have nothing to do with COVID-19, or the right to open-carry a firearm in public for self-defense…”

…Third, inordinate fear misguides the public response. While COVID-19 is serious, fear of it is being over-amplified. The public needs to understand that the vast majority of infected people do quite well…”

Red China must be dealt with as what it is – an enemy. Still, this is a naval conflict primarily, and we still have some advantages, including good ships (but not enough) and a longer, stronger naval tradition. You can’t just build massive, integrated blue water fleets and suddenly be able to employ them effectively. We have been doing that for a century, but let’s not get cocky. Our naval traditions today may not be the “rum, sodomy and the lash” that still built a winning Royal Navy, but they are hardly those of ruthless competence either. Our ships run into other ships too often, and there’s way too much “social justice” and not enough “warrior” in the mix. The indiscipline of the captain of the Roosevelt was appalling and if the bozos with stars give him back his gig cuz the Twitter blue checks whined, that’s worse. At first the mainstream media was going with an “#IgnoreThisWoman approach, but the news got a bit rougher for Crazy Joe the Wonder Veep yesterday, when two more witnesses backed up accuser Tara Reade’s allegations.
It’s not at all shocking that the Democratic flying monkeys in the MSM are fulfilling their water-carrying duties for Biden on this issue. The perverse prime directive of the Left this year is to get Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. into the Oval Office no matter what because ORANGE MAN BAD. Then Biden can have “health issues” and be replaced with someone who doesn’t drool all of the time.
They’re in an uncomfortable position now, the monkeys. Biden is barely functioning mentally, and can’t do any of his own you-know-what covering, so they have to do all of the work on this one. He’s so awful even his handlers aren’t letting him speak much anymore…
