Biden Border Crisis Hits Another Terrifying Milestone

“…On Wednesday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) released new data from May. Attempted crossings reached a 21-year high. Border agents stopped 180,034 people who tried to enter the country illegally along the U.S.-Mexico border. This news comes after Vice President Kamala Harris, whom President Joe Biden commissioned to solve the border crisis, cackled when a reporter asked her if she plans to travel to the border.

Border officials denied entry to about 8,000 of the 180,034 number, while the vast majority of illegal border crossers went across the border through unfenced areas. May’s tally represents an uptick from the 178,622 people stopped in April and the 172,331 stopped in March. These figures do not include the number of illegal immigrants who got away from authorities, a number that hit 40,000 in April.

Since the 2021 fiscal year began in October 2020, border officials stopped 929,868 people who illegally crossed the border, almost double the 459,000 they stopped in 2020.

Harris traveled to Guatemala this week, ostensibly to handle the “root causes” of the border crisis. During her visit, Guatemalan President Alejandro Giammattei blamed Biden for the border crisis, saying that the change from Trump’s administration emboldened the human traffickers on the border, known as “coyotes.”

Giammattei said the change in government led to a change in message. “The message changed to ‘We are going to reunite families and we are going to reunite children,” the foreign leader said. “The very next day the coyotes here were organizing groups of children to take them to the United States.”

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Del Rio Sector Border Patrol agents have arrested 95 convicted sex offenders since October 1, 2020, a whopping 3,166 percent increase over the same timeframe last fiscal year. Biden canceled Operation Talon, a Trump administration initiative that deported illegal immigrants who had been convicted of sex crimes…”

Upscale Residents Protest as Biden Converts Scottsdale Hotel into ICE Detention Center

“…The precinct for Scottsdale’s Homewood Suites voted for Joe Biden, 51% to 47%. Today, this upscale Arizona neighborhood regrets its decision.

Two hundred residents protested Saturday after ICE took over the recently closed hotel to house more than 1,200 illegal immigrants. No public input was requested, not even from the Scottsdale Police Department, which was notified of the decision a day before migrants were transferred.

Government usually detains the undocumented in poorer neighborhoods where they’re more easily ignored by the media. But this zip code has nearly three times the state’s median income, making it harder to hide the ongoing border crisis.

“Over the Memorial Day Weekend, we were notified about the hotel and the illegals that were moved in under the cover of darkness without any kind of consultation from the local community,” protestor Lisa Seger said.

“My wife and I drove by last night and sure enough, they have armed guards and we have pictures taken by other homeowners unloading buses with people with backpacks into the facility,” said resident Geoff Gunsalus. “So we’re concerned that none of us have been put on notice. There was no due process.”

Angry neighbors soon learned their city government has no legal authority to override ICE’s decision. The facility is closed to the public and local journalists were denied entry.

Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich wants to get to the bottom of it. “The President is using Arizona as an experiment with his reckless border policies,” the elected Republican said. “I will continue to stand up for Arizonans and do everything I can to stop the Biden Administration’s attempt to abolish ICE. All of us will pay the price, not only with our tax dollars, but also with our national security, and the safety of our families.”

He demanded DHS provide details about the process, if migrants are being screened for diseases and criminal records, and cost to the taxpayer.

When the border is protected and the problem unseen, it’s easy to support lax enforcement and vague promises of “compassion.” Last fall, the Biden sticker on your Tesla earned approving nods from neighbors and you rest assured that you were on the side of the angels. Nine months later, you’re on a 108-degree sidewalk screaming “NIMBY!” and wondering why Democrats smirk as they drive by.

Mencken said “For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong.” And so it was with defunding the police and its ideological companion, critical race theory. Defunding police was a simple-minded attempt to grapple with complex problems, not all of which are real and not all of which have government solutions. Critical race theory is just as simple-minded, and as toxic as Baltimore’s Inner Harbor occasionally becomes.

The last thing Baltimore needed was to have its police defunded. But the mayor and city council followed the far-left activist agitators off that cliff in 2020, and homicide in Harm City shot up.

Businesses in historic and trendy Fell’s Point are feeling the effects directly, and after the city has failed to listen and do its job, they’re fighting back with a tax revolt according to WBAL.

Call it the Baltimore Tea Party.

More than three dozen Fells Point business owners have sent a letter to Baltimore leadership including Mayor Brandon Scott, City Council President Nick Mosby, Councilman Zeke Cohen, State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby and Police Commissioner Michael Harrison.

“What is happening in our front yard — the chaos and lawlessness that escalated this weekend into another night of tragic, unspeakable gun violence — has been going on for far too long,” a portion of the letter says.

The letter demands that city leaders restore “basic and essential municipal services” including trach pickup, enforcement of traffic and parking laws through tickets and towing, stopping illegal open-air alcohol and drug sales and empowerment of police to responsibly do their jobs.

The business owners threaten to withhold tax and permit payments, placing those funds into an escrow account, if the city doesn’t respond to their request…”
