Maher has moments of clarity, but the mental load of cognitive dissonance required to maintain deeply held beliefs in the face of contradictory reality overwhelms him and he reverts to denial and delusion.
I believe it is this quandary, the huge mental load of cognitive dissonance, that drives many liberals with lessor capacity than Maher to have mental breakdowns and that has ultimately lead to the epidemic of mental disorders that have swept our great country. I group the disorders and call the disease Liberal Mental Disorder.
