McConaughey decides against running for Texas governor

The governorship demands leadership, action, and skill. These traits will be measured in real time and applauded or criticized as appropriate. Is McConaughey anticipating a Ted Cruz presidential candidacy that would potentially open a senate seat? Virtually nothing is required of a senator, and he can safely mumble platitudes and homey stories without having to make actual decisions. He can go on cable TV and be lauded as a sage by liberal media just for talking. It’s a much more comfortable office for an entertainment wannabe.
