We defeated them in every major engagement. Americans were often significantly outnumbered. We defeated them with superior training, tactics, weapons and shear fire power. The most important element was the guts of American soldiers and marines.
That is not to say the Vietnamese weren’t good fighters. They were tough as nails.
We lost that war because of American media, lack of will in the U.S. population, and gutless politicians. We probably never should have been involved to the extent we were.
