Washington State suggests schools give priority to nonwhite students during reopening

Students ‘furthest from educational justice’ should be addressed first, policy suggests.

How about everybody is treated equal without regard to skin color or liberal pieties.

I wonder how the state would determine who is nonwhite, who is deserving of a priority, and who is not? Are some nonwhite racial groups more deserving than others? I am Italian by ancestry (though I identify as “American”) am I white? What makes me white? Skin color? How much brown is allowed before a white person is identified as nonwhite? What are the defining characteristics of white versus nonwhite? How are the defining characteristics measured? Is it a physical measuring device placed against the skin? Who is responsible for taking the measurements? Who is responsible for certifying the preferred nonwhite status of students?
