Vin Scully, RIP. One of my earliest memories is hearing his voice on the radio. He was a constant during my formative years. He was a good man and a great sportscaster with an encyclopedic knowledge of professional baseball. I miss him.
His voice is one of my earliest memories. No matter where I am or what I am doing, when Vin’s voice comes over the radio it transports me to a special and private vacation spot of the mind. Somewhere Vin is out at the park, it is a bright sunny day, the crowd is swarming in, the organ is echoing in the stadium, and your only concern is what you are going to have on your hot dog. I miss his calming presence on the radio and TV.
Below is one of the great moments in baseball. Lasorda managing the Dodgers, Kirk Gibson Captain for the Dodgers and badly injured, Dennis Eckersley on the mound for Oakland, Vin Scully calling the game. This is baseball at its best. I never get tired of this inning.
