MLB? What’s that?

Apparently it is okay for “victimized” sports millionaires to preach politics on the playing field at game time, but it is not okay for normal Americans to do same. It is so not okay for normal Americans that the entire league has to ban this man.

Baseball is heroic. Oops, I mean pathetic. You could not pay me to watch baseball.

Cy Vance’s Trump case is straight from a banana republic — punish your political enemies

“…The 15-count indictment throws a kitchen sink of charges, including grand larceny, conspiracy, scheme to defraud,and tax fraud. But the whole thing comes down to paying perks to Weisselberg — such as his parking garage fees, tuition for family members and reimbursement of holiday gratuities — and not reporting them as taxable income, or reporting that the wrong Trump entity paid them.

For this they slapped Weisselberg in handcuffs Thursday and paraded him in front of the media — a stage-managed political show trial. Corporations almost never get criminally prosecuted for this sort of thing, but Vance wanted the name “Trump” in his indictment. You can bet that he would have indicted The Donald if he had the goods. The feds — who’ve been auditing Trump’s taxes forever — haven’t filed charges.

Equal justice under law means the same law for everyone. That is violated not only when we give powerful people a pass in cases that would get ordinary people locked up, but also when prominent figures get pursued over things that would never get a normal person prosecuted.

Attorney General Robert Jackson, later a Supreme Court justice and Nuremberg prosecutor, warned against “picking the man and then searching the law books, or putting investigators to work, to pin some offense on him,” in which case “the real crime becomes that of being unpopular with the predominant or governing group, being attached to the wrong political views, or being personally obnoxious to or in the way of the prosecutor himself.”

True in 1940, true in 2021…”

Liz Cheney appointed to Pelosi’s January 6th Committee

Liz Cheney self-destructed over Trump. During her tenure in the house she voted something like 90% or better with Trump and Trump policies, and now she has aligned herself with Pelosi. Remarkable.

Cheney destroyed her political career, lost her position in Republican leadership, has been thoroughly used by Democrat media, and now is being used by Pelosi. Cheney has been challenged by other state Republicans and will likely loose her seat in the house in 2022. That will end her political career unless she switches parties and moves to a Democrat state. Even then, with her record, she will have a difficult time being accepted in the Democrat party.

Cheney has destroyed herself.

The signs of Kamala Harris’s unsuitability for high office were visible and numerous during the 2020 election. Why Biden thought she was a good choice is beyond me. I anticipate Biden accepted the advice of his young, ideological, far left aides who saw Harris’s semi-blackness and gender as all important. They have said as much subsequently.

Vulnerable Democrat Kurt Schrader Says ‘No One’ is Trying to Defund the Police, Despite the Push from Inside His Own Party

“…An exclusive video obtained by Breitbart News shows vulnerable Democrat Rep. Kurt Schrader (OR) saying he does not believe there is still an effort to defund the police — not only in Portland but across the country — after the Democrats have made numerous attempts to do so.

In the video, a questioner asks Schrader about the movement to defund the police. The person said he’s “curious if [Schrader] will denounce efforts to defund the police. Crime is up, I think, almost 533 percent.” Schrader said he is “not for defunding the police at all.”

The questioner asked again if the congressman will “condemn the efforts then, to defund the police.” Then the congressman said, I don’t know if anyone is doing that.” Hearing this, the questioner shot back and asked, “No one?” It appears that Schrader said “no.”

Despite Schrader saying no one is looking to defund the police, last week in Portland, Oregon, the Police Association Executive Director Daryl Turner blew up Democrats for embracing the “Defund the Police movement” after all 50 members of the Portland Police Bureau’s Rapid Response Team resigned. In the statement released on Facebook, he said the resignation highlighted “that the priorities of our elected officials have failed.”

Axios also reported that “Democrats, in private and public, are warning that rising crime — and the old and new progressive calls to defund the police — represent the single biggest threat to their electoral chances in 2022.” In Portland alone, the homicides are up 533 percent, which means the city is on track to have more than 1,000 shootings by the end of this year.

Schrader’s Democrat colleagues in the House of Representatives have even gone as far as to say the police should be defunded, reimagined, or abolished…

…Schrader, who said “no one” is trying to defund the police, also voted in March to “defund the police.” Schrader voted to pass the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act of 2021, with the majority of House Democrats, on an almost party-line vote of 220-212. The Act was described by Republicans as a plan that would engage in “defunding the police.”

Furthermore, in a nonpartisan analysis, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) said that the bill for which Schrader voted would cost more than 18,000 police departments around the country significant funds…”
